Doris Ann Birkemeier

  OTTAWA – Doris Ann Birkemeier, 79, of Ottawa, passed away at 3:40 p.m. on Tuesday, November 16, 2021 at the Meadows of Kalida.  She was born February 18, 1942 to the late Lavern and Mildred (Vennekotter) Seimet.  On May 6, 1961, she married Richard F. Birkemeier, he survives in Ottawa.

  Doris is also survived by three daughters: Lisa (Thomas) Dulaney of Virginia Beach, VA., Lori K. (Scott) Recker of Kalida, and Lana (Dean) Foppe of Glandorf; eight grandchildren: Alisha Dulaney, Jacob Dulaney, Brianna (Kristoper) Osterhage, Kiersten (Bradley) Nuveman, Brayden Recker, Justin Foppe, Austin Foppe, and Camryn Foppe; a great-grandson: Kade Osterhage; a brother: Richard (Joanie) Seimet of Ottawa; and a brother-in-law: Denny Cattell of Kalida.

  She is preceded in death by two sisters, Carol Cattell and Marilyn (William) Nartker; and a granddaughter, Amber Foppe.

  Doris was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Glandorf and their Rosary Altar Society.  She was also a member of the Catholic Ladies of Columbia, Ottawa Eagles and the Daughters of the American Revolution.  Doris had been employed by Sylvania, Ottawa Feed and Grain, and the Union Bank Co.  She retired on April 30, 2010.

  Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, November 27, 2021 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Glandorf with Father Tony Fortman officiating.  Burial will follow at the church cemetery.  A visitation will be Friday from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at LOVE FUNERAL HOME, Ottawa with a rosary service at 7:30 p.m.
