Doris Ruth German
OTTAWA - Doris Ruth German, 91, of Ottawa, died at 1:14 p.m., Wednesday, May 26, 2021 at her residence. She was born May 10, 1930 on a farm northwest of Ottoville, Ohio to the late Edward A. and Matilda E. (Weber) Eickholt. She came from very humble beginnings-no electricity or plumbing, and her dad farmed with horses. They had strong Catholic values, the 10 commandments, golden rule, Sunday mass, and family gatherings were a big part of life. Every child had chores and Ed’s philosophy was, "you don’t work, you don’t eat." Doris was a firm believer in the power of prayer.
Doris graduated from Ottoville High School Class of 1948. She considered herself fortunate to be taught in grade school by the dedicated Precious Blood Nuns who were only interested in spiritual and academic development.
On September 5, 1953, Doris married Karl H. German of Ottawa at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Ottoville by Monsignor Frommherz. They met at Hoyts Tavern Ottawa on Holy Saturday and danced their way through 56 ½ years of marriage to the big band era, polka, square dancing while working and rearing 5 kids they loved. Karl passed away on May 15, 2010.

Doris retired from Philips ECG Ottawa in June 1990 with 30+ years of service.
