Doris A. Heiing
Ottawa - Doris Ann Heiing, 80, of Ottawa completed her life journey at 9:30 p.m., Saturday, November 3, 2018 at the Meadows of Ottawa surrounded by her family. She was born November 30, 1937 in Lightsville, Ohio to the late Victor and Rose (Leugers) Keller. On May 12, 1962 she married Larry Heiing Sr, who survives in Ottawa. She is also survived by her 2 children: Larry (Deann) Heiing of Delphos, and Laura (Scott) Hershberger of Ottawa; 7 grandchildren: Danielle (Steve) Dickman, Lauren (Cody) Hattery, Adam Hershberger (Kerry Godsil) Logan Heiing, Austin Heiing, Grant Hershberger, and Noah Heiing and two sisters: Mary (Mike) Dohme of Greenville and Linda (Marcus) Lampley of San Rafael, Ca.. She was preceded in death by her brother: Victor Keller.
Doris was raised on a dairy farm. She was a 1955 graduate of Jackson Local High School and a 1958 graduate of Dayton Good Samaritan School of nursing where she was the valedictorian. She later obtained a nurse anesthetist degree and worked at both Lima Memorial and St. Rita's Hospital. She lived the last 50 years in Ottawa.
She was a hard working and loyal wife, mother, sister and grandmother who enjoyed baking, gardening, flowers and spending time with family. A special Thank You to the caregivers at Home Helpers and Meadows of Ottawa, Putnam County Home Health and Hospice, family and friends who have prayed, loved, and cared for her over the past four years.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, November 7, 2018 at Sts Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Ottawa, with Fr. Rick Friebel officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at LOVE FUNERAL HOME, Ottawa, where a scripture service will be at 7:50 p.m.
Memorials may be given to the Sts. Peter and Paul Church's building fund.
