Edith E. Schroeder
LEIPSIC – Edith E. Schroeder, 80, of Leipsic, died 1:55 p.m., Tuesday, March 21, 2023 at her residence. She was born August 11, 1942 in Glandorf to the late Lawrence and Velma (Seimet) Geckle. On June 25, 1960, she married Ronald W. Schroeder. He passed away October 2, 2016.
Survivors include seven children: Kevin (Jackie) Schroeder of Leipsic, Martin (Jodi) Schroeder of Ottawa, Elaine (Tony) Whaley of Leipsic, Larry (Tammy) Schroeder of Leipsic, Deborah (Tim) Schnipke of Kalida, Scott (Mary) Schroeder of Leipsic and Michelle (Steve) Stechschulte of Ottawa; 22 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren and 4 on the way.
She was preceded in death by two grandsons: Nathan J. Schroeder and Ryan W. Schroeder; a brother, Lavern Geckle; and in-laws: Bernadette and George Burke, Cletus and Viola Schroeder, James "Jake" and Clara Schroeder, Guido and Anna Schroeder, Saturnius "Barney" and Mary Schroeder, Hyacinth "Jack" and Luella Schroeder, Geneva and Joe Snyder, Colletta and Harold Niese, Dennis J. Schroeder, Valen and Rose Schroeder and Justin "Jud" and Mary C. “Kate” Schroeder
Edie retired from Schnipke Engraving and worked alongside her husband on the family farm. She was an avid Leipsic Viking and St. Mary’s Panther fan. Edie loved to sew blankets for all of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Leipsic.
A funeral mass will begin 10:30 a.m., Saturday, March 25, 2023 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Leipsic with Fr. Randy Giesige officiating. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Leipsic. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday at LOVE-HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Leipsic as well as one hour prior to the mass Saturday at St. Mary's Parish Life Center.
Memorial donations may be made to the St. Mary's Catholic School or Church, Putnam County Home Care and Hospice.
