Eugene P. "Beanie" Niese
LEIPSIC – Eugene P. "Beanie" Niese, 74, of Leipsic, died at 11:09 p.m., Tuesday, May 25, 2021 at Mercy Health St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima surrounded by his loving family. He was born June 18, 1946 in Lima to the late Wilbert and Ardella (Warniment) Niese. On November 13, 1973, he married Patricia Gerschutz, who preceded him in death on November 24, 1992. Then on March 29, 2005, Eugene married Patricia Friese, who survives in Leipsic.
Other survivors include four children: Brent Niese of Toledo, Dawn (Michael) Plakus of Greensboro, NC, Bradley (Amber) Niese of Ottawa and Yvonne (Randy) Cusac of Ottawa; a step-daughter, Jamie (John) Kenley of South Charleston; six grandchildren: Autumn, Liberty, Savanna, Jayden, Alec and Patricia; two step-grandchildren: Shelby and Dalton; and two sisters: Carolyn (Larry) Korte of Glandorf and Linda Maas of Leipsic; three sisters-in-law: Doris Niese of Leipsic, Marlene Niese of Ottawa and Jeanie Niese of Ottawa; and many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Eugene was also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Patricia Cusac; five brothers: Marvin, Donald, Melvin, Joseph and Gail Niese; three sisters: Martha (Paul) Bellman, Kathleen (Don) Sager and Betty Lou Niese; a brother-in-law, James Maas; and his father-in-law and mother-in-law: Donald W. and Ruth A. Friese.
Eugene was a lifelong farmer who loved the family farm and the animals. He was a former butcher for M & M Meats, Pandora and Delphos Food Locker. He was a supporter of FFA, Putnam County Fair, Putnam County 4-H and valued conservation of resources. He was a U.S. Army veteran serving on the intelligence division and as a cook during Vietnam. Eugene was also a former member of the Ottawa VFW. He was a devoted catholic and a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Leipsic. Beanie loved spending time with his grandchildren and teaching them fabrication and Catholicism.
A memorial mass will begin 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, June 9, 2021 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Leipsic with Father William Pifher officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military rites by the Leipsic American Legion and VFW. Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral Wednesday at St. Mary’s Parish Life Center, Leipsic. Arrangements are under the direction of LOVE-HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, LEIPSIC.
