Evelyn Frances "Evie" Miley
OTTAWA - Evelyn Frances "Evie" Miley, age 87, of Ottawa, passed away peacefully on April 11, 2021 with her family at her side and under the watchful care of Capital City Hospice.
Evie was born April 9, 1934 to Alphonse and Ludmilla (Heitmeyer) Meyer of Pandora, Ohio. She attended and graduated from Pandora High School. She married Charles Richard "Dick" Miley on February 18, 1952. While Dick maintained a career working for The Ohio Power Company (AEP), Evie not only lovingly raised their three boys, but also continued to refine her passion as an amazing baker and cook, bringing together all generations of the family to enjoy her fabulous meals at every holiday.
Never content to seek leisure, Dick and Evie built many homes and apartments in Ottawa "in their spare time". Evie not only did most of the painting in the construction process, but also effectively managed all the building projects. As a team, they started a generation spanning Farm Holding Company.
Evie enjoyed going to auctions and turning her shrewd purchases into profits from her own garage sales, taking daily morning walks with her friends, and in later life driving the countryside with Dick to scout for farmland.
Evie is survived by sons, Robert D. Miley (Tess), Springboro, OH, Richard L. Miley (Cathy), Columbus, OH and Mark J. Miley (Marsha), Upper Arlington, OH. She is also survived by her loving grandchildren, Marisa Miley Brown (Ryan), Mitch Miley (Libby), Taylor Miley (Jon King), Turner Miley (Emily Hammond), and Tanner Miley, as well as four great-grandchildren, Kellen, Nolan, Preston, and Nora.
Evie is preceded in death by her husband, Charles Richard Miley, her two brothers Denis Meyer and Alphonse Meyer Jr., both of Pandora, sisters Eileen Bockrath of Glandorf and Erma Scheckelhoff of Ottawa.
A private graveside service will be held with Father David Ritchie officiating. Burial will be at St. Anthony's Cemetery, Columbus Grove, OH.
Arrangements are under the direction of LOVE FUNERAL HOME, Ottawa.
