Gerald N. Martin

   Fort Jennings – Gerald N. Martin, 67, of Fort Jennings died at 3:26 a.m. Wednesday July 3, 2019 at Mercy Health St. Rita’s Medical Center, Lima. He was born September 12, 1951 in Lima to the late Norman and Rita (Pothast) Martin. On November 27, 1976 he married Evelyn Hoersten who survives in Fort Jennings.

   Also surviving are three children, Michelle (Ken) Porr of Cedarville, Louise (Ron) Crawford of Pleasant Lake, IN, and Jeffrey (Courtnie) Martin of Canal Winchester; five grandchildren, Mason Crawford, Zachary Crawford, Kaleb Porr, Lauren Porr, and Brandon Porr; one step grandchild, Alexis Crawford; a sister, Jane Schimmoeller of Fort Jennings; uncle and aunt Ralph and Marie Pothast of Glandorf; mother-in-law, Thelma Hoersten of Delphos; brothers-in-law, Tom (Lisa) Hoersten of Oregon and Ken (JoAnn) Hoersten of Fremont, Michigan; sister-in-law, Jane Wittler of Fort Jennings. Also preceded in death by a grandson, Sage Porr, three brothers-in-law, Daniel Schimmoeller, Leroy Wittler, Chuck  Calvelage, sister-in law Irene Calvelage and his father-in-law, Arthur Hoersten.

   Gerald was a Master Plumber, farmer, and raised feeder steers and hogs. He enjoyed playing cards and going to county fairs. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Fort Jennings and the Delphos Eagles.

    A Funeral Mass will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, July 13, 2019 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Fort Jennings with Very Reverend Jerome Schetter officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday, July 12, 2019 at LOVE-HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Jackson Township and one hour prior to the mass on Saturday at the church.

   Memorials may be made to Putnam County Council on Aging or the Honor Flight.
