Gerald L. Stechschulte
OTTAWA – Jerry L. Stechschulte, 83, of Ottawa, passed away at 11:10 a.m. on Monday, November 15, 2021 at Mercy Health St. Rita’s Medical Center, Lima. He was born November 1, 1938 in Glandorf to the late Elmer and Frances (Nienberg) Stechschulte. On February 3, 1962, he married Marilyn Kuhlman, she survives in Ottawa.
Jerry is also survived by two children: Steve (Michelle) Stechschulte and Lisa (Steve) Buddelmeyer, both of Ottawa; five grandchildren: Matt (Makenna Richey) Stechschulte, Madison (Wyatt) Karhoff, Jayden Stechschulte, Taylor (Bryant) Diemer, and Lauren (Jason Schnipke) Buddelmeyer; two great-grandchildren: Ella Stechschulte and Athea Karhoff; and a sister: Kathy (Leo) Morman of Ottawa.
He is preceded in death by two brothers, Joseph and Jim Stechschulte
Jerry retired from Phillips, Ottawa in 1993, where he was a supervisor. He was a member of the Quarter Century Club, as well as the Ottawa K of C. He was also a member of the O-G Boosters. Gerald founded the O-G Jaycees. He pitched the last game at the old Memorial Park, and then pitched the first game on the new field and helped flip the switch on the new lights. He was a longtime volunteer at the Ottawa Memorial Field, it was his pride and joy. Jerry was an avid fan of the Detroit Tigers and the O-G Titans. Jerry’s grandkids meant everything to him, he thoroughly enjoyed attending their activities.

Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 19, 2021 at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church with Father Tony Fortman officiating. A visitation will be held on Thursday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at LOVE FUNERAL HOME, Ottawa.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Ottawa Memorial Park Baseball Field or a charity of the donor’s choice.
