Iris Pearl Shoemaker

  LEIPSIC – Iris Pearl Shoemaker, 99, of Leipsic, died 4:43 p.m., Sunday, June 6, 2021 at the Meadows of Leipsic.  She was born July 26, 1921 in Leipsic to the late Glen and Lily (Stevenson) Searfoss.  On December 24, 1945, she married James Shoemaker. He preceded her in death in April of 1978.

  Iris is survived by two children: Brenda Vollmuth of Pioneer and Darl Shoemaker of Leipsic; six grandchildren: Angie (Michael) Bexten of Apex, NC, Laura (Richard) Haas of Pioneer, Beth (Ryan) Houk of Montpelier, Brad (Jamie) Siebeneck of Pioneer, Kim Bonner of Deshler and Jim (Deanna) Shoemaker of Malinta; twelve great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

  She was also preceded in death by two great-grandchildren; a son-in-law, Jim Vollmuth; three brothers: Varyl, Ronald and Woodrow Searfoss; and four sisters: Mildred Hook, Marjorie Shoemaker, Norma Dewar and Esther Lieb.

  Iris formerly worked at Sherwin Williams in Deshler for 25 years. She was a member of the First Christian Church, Leipsic and the Leipsic American Legion Auxiliary. 

  Funeral service will begin 1:00 p.m., Friday, June 11, 2021 at LOVE-HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, LEIPSIC with Pastor Tim Eding officiating. Burial will follow at Sugar Ridge Cemetery, Leipsic.  Visitation will be Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.
