Irma L. Vorst-Meyer
FORT JENNINGS – Irma L. Vorst-Meyer, 88 of Fort Jennings, passed away at 4:10 p.m. on Thursday, April 27, 2023, at the Meadows of Delphos. She was born September 9, 1934, in Delphos to the late Gerard and Gertrude (Krebs) Calvelage. On August 26, 1953, she married Robert J. Vorst, he preceded her in death in July 1977. On February 1, 1997, she married Eugene T. Meyer, he preceded her in death on July 4, 2009.
Irma is survived by five children: Laurie (Rick) Maag of Fort Jennings, Julie (Andy Schoelkpf) Moore of Van Wert, Mary (Terry) Maag, Terry (Jackie) Vorst, both of Fort Jennings, and Donna (Gerry Merrills) Vorst; 10 grandchildren: Alex Maag, Elaina Maag, Julius Moore, Olive Moore, Kristen Maag, Kyle Maag, Jessica Vorst, Cassie Horstman, Jordan Horstman, and Riley Horstman; 11 great-grandchildren; siblings: Fred Calvelage, Carol Ricker both of Delphos, Norma (Jim) Von Sossan of Fort Jennings; a sister-in-law: Betty Calvelage of Fort Jennings; and a brother-in-law: Tom Miehls of Fort Jennings.
She is preceded in death by three brothers: Ronald, Robert, and Gary Calvelage; sisters Judy and Evelyn Miehls; brothers-in-law: Robert Miehls and Sig Ricker; sister-in-law: Ruth Calvelage; and a granddaughter: Kelly Maag.
Irma retired as a seamstress from Drapery Stitch, Delphos. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Fort Jennings, and it’s CL of C. Irma was also a member of the Ottawa Eagles Ladies Auxiliary, Fort Jennings American Legion Auxiliary, as well as a Red Cross Volunteer. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, and gardening.
Funeral Mass will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, May 1, 2023, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Fort Jennings with Father Charles Obinwa officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. A visitation will be held on Monday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of LOVE-HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Jackson Township.
