James Truttschel
OTTAWA – James Truttschel, 85, of Ottawa, passed away Thursday, August 17, 2023, at his residence surrounded by his loving family. He was born October 27, 1937, in Wisconsin to the late Melvin and Marjory (Arnoldi) Truttschel. On November 20, 1965, he married Georgia Ostrand, who survives.
James served in the United States Air Force in Cape Canaveral, Florida where he worked on missiles. He worked for Michigan Bell Telephone Company before transferring to Mountain Bell in Pueblo West, Colorado in 1974. He retired in 1999 and moved to Ohio to be near his daughter, son-in-law, and grandchildren. James loved to play card games and absolutely loved the outdoors where he played tennis, fished, and golfed. He was an avid Denver Broncos fan and loved watching football. He loved spending time with his family and grandchildren.
James is survived by a daughter Kelly (Norm) Schroeder and three grandchildren: Breann (Tanner) Schimmoeller, Trenton Schroeder, and Bryce Schroeder; and a sister-in-law: Jan Truttschel.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Melvin, and Marjory Truttschel; a sister and brother-in-law Joyce (Wallace) Wolf; a brother and sister-in-law, Roger (Carol) Truttschel; and two nieces, Bonnie Wolf and Sherri Einkorn.
There will be a private ceremony at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be made to Putnam County CAP or Putnam County Hospice.
The family would like to express their thanks and gratitude to the Mercy Health-St. Rita’s Cancer Center, Mercy Health-Allison Radiation Oncology and Putnam County Hospice for the care, treatment and the kindness shown to James during his care.
