Janet M Altenburger R.N.

COLD SPRINGS, KY - Janet Altenburger R.N. of Cold Springs KY., formerly Ottoville, died on March 2, 2021 at St. Elizabeth Hospital, Edgewood KY.  She was born on May 29, 1950 to Robert and Dorothy (Fortman) Gasser.  She was the beloved wife to Wilbur (Bill) Altenburger Jr. for 49 years.  He survives in Cold Springs, KY. 

Other survivors include two children:  Rick (Anna) Altenburger and Kimberly (Bryan) Surface; four siblings: Mike (Jan) Gasser, Kenneth (Cindy) Gasser, Robert “Sonny” (Janice) Gasser, and Keith (Linda) Gasser. She was the adored grandmother “GG” to four grandchildren: Rylee and Owen Surface and Mason and Maria Altenburger. 

She was proceeded in death by her father, Robert and sister, Susan. 

Janet was a 1968 graduate of Ottoville High School and St. Rita’s Nursing School in 1971.  She was a devoted nurse for 37 years before retiring to be near her family.  Jan loved to experience the joy of traveling and watching the Reds and Cavs.  But most of all, her life was encompassed by her love of family and close friends.  To know Jan was to love her. 

There will be a private graveside ceremony for her immediate family.  Arrangements are under the direction of LOVE-HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Jackson Township.
