LEIPSIC – Joanne Schey of Leipsic died at 3:34 a.m. on Wednesday, February 26, 2020 in Hospice at The Meadows of Leipsic. She was born February 17, 1927 in Columbus Grove to the late John and Opal (Powell) Morris. On June 17, 1948 she married Lowell R. Schey who passed away March 5, 2017.

   She is survived by three children, Mary Jo (Rob) Jordan of Findlay, Mark (Janice) Schey of Stuart, FL, and Jane (Tom) Niese of Leipsic; six grandchildren, Paige (Nathan) Inbody, Elaine (Chad Underwood, fiancé) Schey, Alissa (Will) Mondina, Lindsey Schey, Daniel (Sheena) Niese, and Philip Niese; four great-grandchildren, Bailey Inbody, Lila Mondina, Emma) Mondina, and Jett Niese; a sister, Shirley Linhart of Findlay; and a brother-in-law, Orie McDougle of The Meadows of Leipsic. She was also preceded in death by 2 sisters, Constance (William) Plassman, Marilyn McDougle and a brother-in-law, John Linhart.

   Joanne was a kindergarten teacher for 20 years with the Leipsic Local Schools. She was a 1945 graduate of Leipsic High School and class Valedictorian, a Bowling Green State University graduate with a major in elementary education and a minor in accounting. Joanne was a member of the Gamma Phi Beta Sorority at Bowling Green State University.

   She was a very active member of First Christian Church, Leipsic. She helped with the church vacation bible school, Sunday school, was a youth group leader and a Deaconess. She loved fishing with Lowell. They spent 6 months of the year at Lake Erie and 3 months at Anna Marie Island in Florida, but the best time of her life was loving her husband, raising her children and enjoying being with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

    Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday, March 1, 2020 at LOVE-HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Leipsic with Pastor Tim Eding officiating. Music will be by her son-in-law, Rob Jordan and two nieces, Miriam Gibson and Tammy Pagy. Burial will follow in Center Cemetery, Leipsic. Visitation will be from 12 p.m. until to 2 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home, with the service beginning at 2 p.m.
