Ken A. Maag
OTTAWA – Ken A. Maag, 73, of Ottawa, died 3:44 p.m. Saturday, August 5, 2023 at the Meadows of Ottawa. He was born September 18, 1949 in Kalida to the late Richard and Donelda “Nellie” (Sager) Maag. On September 21, 1968, he married Karen Kuhbander, who survives in Ottawa.
Ken is also survived by 3 sons: Scott (Marcia) Maag of Ottawa, Randy (Jill) Maag of Massillon and Ryan (Tiffany) Maag of Lewis Center; 9 grandchildren: Morgan (Aaron Rieman), Kamron, Theo, Claudia, Isaiah Maag, Sydney and Delaney Maag and Kaelyn and Jackson Maag; 9 siblings: Mary Kay (Larry) Gearig of Swanton, Daniel (Fritz) Maag of Columbus Grove, Gary (Joyce) Maag of Glandorf, Betty (Greg) Leap of Ottawa, Susie (Bob Barnt) Butcher of Elida, Richard (Jo Ann) Maag of Haines City, FL, Barb (Steve) Walker of Ottawa, Cindy (Jim) Ricker of Leipsic, and Thomas (Vicki) Maag of Glandorf; and sister-in-law, Pat Maag of Ottawa.
He is preceded in death by 3 brothers: John Maag, Charles Maag and Robert Maag, and sister in law: Rita Maag.
Ken was an insurance agent and had been the mayor of Ottawa for 28 years. He was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church and the Ottawa K of C. He was a member of the Ottawa Eagles, and a social member of the Ottawa American Legion and the VFW. He was a proud supporter of the Titans as a member of OG Athletic Boosters. He enjoyed attending his grandchildren’s many sporting events and camping.
The funeral mass will begin 10:30 a.m. Thursday, August 10, 2023 at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic church with Father Scott Kramer officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be 3 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at LOVE FUNERAL HOME, Ottawa, where a rosary service will begin at 7:30 p.m.
