LaPeda McCormick

  OTTAWA -  LaPeda Juan McCormick was born in Toledo, OH on December 13th, 1965 to the union of Major C. McCormick Sr. and Christine McCormick. She was the youngest of 13 siblings.  She departed this life on August 29th, 2021 at the age of 55. She was preceded in death by both parents;  five brothers: Major C. McCormick Jr, Allen McCormick, Gilbert McCormick, Alvin McCormick and Eric McCormick; and one sister: Iris McCormick-Hicks.

  LaPeda professed her life to Christ at an early age.  She graduated from Jesup W. Scott High School in June 1985 with honors. She was on the girls varsity basketball team her senior year. LaPeda did not have children of her own but she loved spending time with her nieces and nephews. LaPeda was well loved by her family and friends. LaPeda spent the last 20 years of her life at Autumn Court Nursing Home in Ottawa, OH.

  She is survived by six siblings:  Bonnie McCormick-McGlown, Singleton McCormick, Lenora McCormick-McGlown, Tony McCormick, Belinda McCormick-Hicks and Arvie McCormick; two brothers-in-law: Darrell McGlown and Charles Hicks; one sister-in-law: Shari Jackson; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. There will be an memorial for LaPeda at a later date.
