Lauren F. "Brownie" Brown
WILLIAMSBURG, MI, FORMERLY OF PAULDING - Lauren F. "Brownie" Brown, 84, died 1:41 p.m., Thursday, April 29, 2021 at Grand Traverse Pavilions, Traverse City, MI. He was born May 2, 1936 in Defiance to the late Bernard and Gladys (Hill) Brown. He married Marjorie M. Okuley in 1963 and enjoyed over 55 years of marriage.
Other survivors include two children: Cheryl Cooper of Oakwood and Bruce (Jennie) Brown of Williamsburg, MI; six grandchildren: Tara Cooper, Lucas (Caroline) Cooper, Kacy (Brett) Wagner, Cole (Vanessa) Cooper, Sarah Brown and Matthew Brown; seven great-grandchildren: Case Cooper, Nash Cooper, Vivian Cooper, Haven Wagner, Henley Wagner, Dominic Cooper and Lincoln Cooper; and two sisters: Susan (Kenneth) Diemer and Judy (Joseph) Lenhart both of Defiance.
Lauren was the Initial Manager of Home Savings and Loan, Paulding, Ohio for over 30 years. He served in the Army and Army Reserves from 1959-1965. He was a 1954 graduate of Defiance High School; attended Bowling Green University and a graduate of Ohio Savings and Loan Academy. Lauren was the secretary of newly formed Moose Club in Defiance, Ohio, former member of Northwest Ohio Board of Realtors, member and past officer of Paulding Lions Club, Paulding Chamber of Commerce, Community Improvement Board and Paulding Exempted Village School Board. He was also a member of Knights of Columbus #2584, Paulding, Ohio, Loyal Order of Moose #1616, Houghton Lake, Michigan, life member of B.P.O.E. # 1197, Van Wert, Ohio, life member and former officer of Eagles # 2405, Paulding, Ohio, VFW #587, Paulding, Ohio, life member of John Paulding Historical Society, former member of Parish Ushers Club, St. William Parish in Walled Lake, Michigan, and member of Christ the King Church in Acme, Michigan.
Funeral mass will begin at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, May 4, 2021 at Divine Mercy Catholic Church, Paulding with Fr. Austin Ammanniti officiating. Burial will follow in Paulding Memorial Cemetery, Paulding. In keeping with social distancing, visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Monday at HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, OAKWOOD as well as one hour prior to the mass at the church. Masks are required upon entry.
