Mabel C. Berelsman
FORT JENNINGS – Mabel C. Berelsman, 91, of Fort Jennings, passed away at 10:38 p.m. on Wednesday, April 3, 2024, at the Meadows of Kalida. She was born May 8, 1932, in Fort Jennings to the late Jacob and Clara (Beckman) Calvelage. On September 27, 1954, she married Albert Berelsman, he preceded her in death on December 28, 2009.
Mabel is survived by eight children: Janet (Michael) Freisthler of Sidney, Jean (Dan) Heitzman of Continental, Sue Fike of Leipsic, Tony (Cindy) Berelsman, Tom (Bev) Berelsman, Gary (Stacey) Berelsman, Diana (Dennis) Osting, and Jackie (Jerry) Siefker, all of Fort Jennings; eighteen grandchildren; twenty-two great-grandchildren; with one on the way.
She is preceded in death by a son, Gerald Berelsman; a son-in-law, Craig Fike; a granddaughter, Ashley Berelsman; two great-grandchildren: Nathan and Mallory Gasser; and a brother, Elmer (Barb) Calvelage.
Mabel was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Fort Jennings, and it’s Altar Rosary. She was also a member of the Fort Jennings American Legion Auxiliary. Mabel retired from Woolworth in the Lima Mall. She loved shopping, and spending time with her family.
Funeral Mass will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, April 8, 2024, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Fort Jennings, with Fr. Charles Obinwa officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. A visitation will be held on Sunday from 2 to 8 p.m. at LOVE-HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Jackson Township, and on Monday from 9 to 10 a.m. at the church.
Memorial donations may be made to Fort Jennings Park or Freedom Square.
