Marilyn J. Gulker
OTTAWA - Marilyn J. Gulker, 88, of Ottawa died at 9:05 p.m. Sunday, November 14, 2021, at The Meadows of Ottawa. She was born November 7th, 1933 in Delphos, Ohio to the late Harry and Marguerite (Ulm) Cramer. On May 21, 1955 she married William H. Gulker. He died March 17, 2007.
Survivors include 5 children: Julia (Ronald) Siefker (Rick Verhoff) of Glandorf, Jill (Alan) Stechschulte of Seguin, Texas, William (Patricia) Gulker of Ottawa, Mary Lynn (Greg) Warnecke of Glandorf, and James (Laura) Gulker of Glandorf.
15 Grandchildren: Christopher, Melodie, Kelly, Rusty, Dusty, Dino, Carrie, Ben, Emily, Logan, Noah, Will, Colton, Sam, and Katelyn. Nine great-grandchildren: Paige, Emma, Anna, Evan, Marisella, Lincoln, Sloane, Ethan, and Eli.
Also surviving are three brothers: Phillip Cramer of Ottawa, Dan (Sue) Cramer of Eugene, Oregon, Harry “Jack” (Cindy) Cramer of Palmetto, Fl, and one sister Jane (Tom) Livingston of Palmetto, Fl. Additionally, one brother-in-Law Gerald “Bud” Bewsey of Ottawa, three sisters-in-law Toni Osting of Cloverdale, Grace Cramer of Bluffton, and Judy Weis of Lawton, MI.
Proceeding her in death are three brothers: Larry Cramer, Charles Cramer, and Carroll Cramer and one sister Mary Lou Bewsey; and a son-in-law, Ron Siefker.
Marilyn graduated from St. Rita’s School of Nursing and immediately hired at St. Rita’s Hospital as a Surgical Nursing Supervisor. Marilyn received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from Defiance College. Together Marilyn and Bill opened Gulker’s Paint Center in Ottawa. Marilyn had a long career in public health working with Broward County, Florida, and then the Putnam County and the State of Ohio Health Departments. In 2015, she wrote and published A CENTURY OF MEMORIES; OTTAWA BOY SCOUTS 1912-2012. She was a Member of Ottawa Black Swamp Writers Guild, Dooryard Garden Club, and many other clubs and boards throughout her life. Marilyn was a member of Saint John the Baptist Catholic Church, Glandorf.
Funeral Mass will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 20, 2021 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Glandorf with Father Tony Fortman officiating. Burial will follow in Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Ottawa. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of LOVE FUNERAL HOME, Ottawa.
