Mary M. Metzger
LEIPSIC -- Mary M. Metzger, 79, of Leipsic died 9:52 a.m. Tuesday, March 27, 2018 at the Meadows of Ottawa. She was born August 11, 1938 in Van Wert to the late William B. and Marcill (Kreischer) Campbell. On November 28, 1964 she married Clem G. Metzger, who preceded her in death on September 5, 1999.
She is survived by her son: Michael (Lisa) Metzger of Ottawa; 4 granddaughters: Cheryl Metzger, Amanda (Brad) Schroeder, Megan (John Trehan) Hohman and Ali (Hayden) Brown; 8 great-grandchildren: Haley Miller, Jenna Trehan, Emily Trehan, Maddie Schroeder, Cara Trehan, Cooper Brown, Reid Schroeder, Logan Schroeder with one on the way in August; a brother: Phil (Chris) Campbell of Convoy; a nephew: David Core; and 3 nieces: Anita Rupp, Candi (Jamie) Sites and Jennifer (Brett) Rowlands; and her great nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by a daughter: Susan Metzger and a brother: Robert B. Campbell.
Mary retired from Putnam Acres Care Center after 19 years. She had also worked for nursing homes throughout Lima and Van Wert. Before working in the nursing homes, she worked for the Van Wert Telephone Company for 5 years and Leipsic Telephone Company for 3 years. For 20 years, she also babysat children in her home.
She was a graduate of Convoy-Union High School, later known as Crestview High School and had also attended the Lima Memorial School of Nursing. She had been a 4-H advisor for 5 years. Mary was a member of the Leipsic Eagles, Leipsic American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, Leipsic VFW Ladies Auxiliary, and the Putnam County DAV Ladies Auxiliary.
Mary's funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, March 30, 2018 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Leipsic with Father William Pifher officiating. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Leipsic. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday and again from 8 to 9:45 a.m. Friday at LOVE-HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Leipsic.
