Mary E. “Betty” Schroeder
LEIPSIC – Mary E. “Betty” Schroeder, 88 of Leipsic died at 6:34 p.m., Sunday, March 19, 2023 at The Meadows of Leipsic. She was born December 1, 1934 in Allen County, Ohio to the late Sylvester and Ida (Didion) Mesker. On October 10, 1953, she married Norbert J. Schroeder who died October 30, 2006.
Survivors include seven children: Thomas (Margaret) Schroeder of Reading, MI, Carol (Phil) Lawson of Findlay, Steven (Julie) Schroeder and Sharon (Nick) Inkrott both of Leipsic, Charlie Schroeder of Reading, MI, Joe (Cindy) Schroeder of Leipsic and Susan (Larry) McCullough Jr. of Pandora; a son-in-law, John Hart of Raleigh, NC; 26 grandchildren, 6 step-grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; a sister, Mary Alice Davey of Delphos; and four sisters-in-law: Dolly Mesker of Delphos, Carol Schroeder of Leipsic, Mary K. (Paul) Quint of Pandora and Janie (Lou) Schroeder of Bluffton, IN.
She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Kathy Hart; daughter-in-law, Betty Schroeder; two brothers: Robert “Bob” Mesker and William “Jake” Mesker; and in-laws: Chuck Davey, Eugene (Jane) Schroeder, Ruthie (Larry) Johnson, and John Kemper.
Betty retired as Laundry Supervisor for the former Putnam Acres in Ottawa. She was also a homemaker helping on the family farm. Betty was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Leipsic and its Altar Rosary and Catholic Ladies of Columbia. She enjoyed canning, gardening, sewing and loved her cats.
Funeral mass will begin at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, March 23, 2023 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Leipsic with Fr. Randy Giesige officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at LOVE-HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Leipsic and one hour prior to the mass Thursday at St. Mary’s Parish Life Center. A C.L. of C rosary will begin at 7:30 p.m., Wednesday at the funeral home.
Memorial donations may be given to Bridge Hospice, St. Mary’s School or St. Mary's Sisters.
