Mary "Kathy" Kuhlman Rayle
OTTAWA – Mary "Kathy" Kuhlman Rayle, 91, of Ottawa passed away at 6:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 28, 2021 at the Meadows of Ottawa. She was born July 19, 1929 in Ottawa, to the late Carl and Mildred (Blockberger) Lause. In July 1950 she married Donald Kuhlman. He preceded her in death on September 4, 1975. On April 15, 1978, she then married Eugene Rayle. He preceded her in death on April 28, 2019.
Kathy is survived by her children: Rebecca (Robert) Oliver, Dennis (Nancy Shalter) Kuhlman, Steven (Cindy) Kuhlman, Ronald (Brenda) Kuhlman all of Ottawa, and Sherry (Ronald) Kaufman of California; ten grandchildren: Craig Oliver, Jamie (Doug) Trombley, Kyle (Stacey) Kuhlman, Brent (Kristina Ouellette) Kuhlman, Trevor (Kirsten) Kuhlman, Brandi (Zac) Hempfling, Emily (Ryan Santana) Kuhlman, Bruce (Jenn) Kaufman, Brian (Gina) Kaufman, and Matthew (Karen) Kaufman; great-grandchildren: Carson Trombly, Lauren Trombly, Mason Trombly, Camden Kuhlman, Sydney Kuhlman, Kasen Hempfling, Ella Hempfling, Austin Kaufman, Garrett Kaufman, Shane Kaufman, Jordan Kaufman and one great-grandchild on the way; and one brother: Robert Lause of Ottawa.
She is preceded in death by a daughter-in-law: Debra Kuhlman; two brothers: Ivan (Catherine) Lause and Edward Lause; one sister: Sally (Bob) Steiner; and a sister-in-law: Eileen Lause.
Kathy and her husband Don managed "Don's Bar" in Ottawa. Later she worked at the American Legion in Ottawa where she cooked delicious lunches daily while also bartending.
Kathy was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who taught her family values of hard work and the willingness to help others. She loved having a good time with her family, especially sitting by camp fires and celebrating birthdays and holidays.
Funeral mass will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, February 1, 2021 at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Ottawa with Father Scott Kramer officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday at LOVE FUNERAL HOME, Ottawa. Due to the restrictions regarding COVID 19, masks are required when entering the funeral home and/or church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude's Research Hospital, Putnam County Dog Shelter, Putnam County CAP or a charity of the donor's choice.
