Melvin "Bud" Guisinger
KALIDA – Melvin "Bud" Guisinger, 81, of Kalida, died at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, February 3, 2021 at Mercy Health St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima. He was born on July 8, 1939 in Piqua, Ohio to the late Melvin L. and Mary (Casey) Guisinger. He married Wilda Carey on January 10, 1959. She survives in Kalida.
Bud is survived by his three sons: Craig (Pat) Guisinger of Kalida, Rob (Jenny) Guisinger of Botkins, John (Shelley) Guisinger of Kalida; eight grandchildren: Derek Guisinger, Nick Guisinger, both of Columbus, Ross (Leslie) Guisinger of Ottawa, Chance (Olivia) Guisinger, Drew (Krista) Guisinger, both of Anna, Casey Guisinger of Botkins, Trevor Guisinger of Boston, Massachusetts, and Trent Guisinger of Kalida; five great-grandchildren; Ariana, Nolan, Alaina, Wyatt, Margo and one great-grandson due on Bud's birthday; three siblings: Dorothy Ziegler of Batavia, Mary Sargent of Beavercreek, Jim (Pat) Guisinger of Wheatfield, IN; a sister-in-law: Irene Ganger of Union.
He was preceded in death by a brother: Bob Guisinger; and three brothers-in-law: Frank Ziegler, Gene Sargent and Richard Ganger.
Bud was the retired owner/manager of Putnam Pig in Cloverdale. He was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church, Kalida. He was also a member of the Kalida Fish and Game Club. Bud was a 4th Degree Knight with the Knights of Columbus. He loved being with his family, especially his grandchildren. He also enjoyed spending time with friends, working at the Kalida K of C and camping, as well as spending time at the Maumee River and the Fall Family Apple Cidar Day.
A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 6, 2021 at St. Michael's Catholic Church, Kalida with Father Mark Hoying officiating. Burial will follow in St. Michael's Cemetery. In keeping with the social distancing guidelines, a private family visitation will be held prior to the funeral mass. Friends and family are welcome at the funeral mass. Masks will be required upon entering the church.
