Michael D. Crisp, 1952-2023
Michael (Mike) Crisp, passed away at the age of 70 on May 28, 2023 alongside his loving children at Bridge Hospice Care Center at Blanchard Valley in Findlay after a brief battle with cancer. He was born in 1952 to Earl and Vernal Crisp of Kenton, Ohio. Both parents preceded him in death.
Mike attended and played football for Kenton High School and graduated in 1970. He had 14 biological siblings. Mike came from a long line of musically inclined family and was a very accomplished (self-taught) bass guitar player. He dedicated most of his life to playing music full time and played in numerous bands over the years, including but not all; Tumbleweed, Abe Hollon and the Country Kings, Cheex, Doc Holiday, Texas, Buck Tanner, Little Rock, and was one of the original Exploit band members. Mike was an entertainer and loved to interact with people and make them laugh, even through his final days. He enjoyed golf and valued his time with his neighbors and family.
Aside from playing music, Mike also had worked for Allen Wholesale, Lima Pathology, and Ada Technologies for the last twenty-five years.
He is survived by his children Michael (Ashley) Crisp of Spencerville, Sarah (Keith) Ricker of Ottawa, Anna (Garrick) Schroeder of Columbus Grove and Samuel “Rocket” Crisp of Bluffton.
Also surviving are his grandchildren Trevor, Rylee, and Chase Crisp of Spencerville, and will be lovingly remembered as “Papa Pick” by Grayson and Zoe Ricker of Ottawa.
A backyard celebration of life will be held on Saturday, June 3, at 6PM at his daughter’s residence - 131 Chickasaw Ln. Ottawa, Ohio 45875. Dinner to follow.
In lieu of gifts and flowers, it was Mike’s wish that donations benefit the musical education of his grandchildren, present and future. Please make checks payable to the Estate of Michael Crisp, 131 Chickasaw Ln. Ottawa, Ohio 45875 or Venmo @AnnaSchroeder221
