Mildred T. Laubenthal

  OTTAWA - Mildred Teresa "Mil" Laubenthal, 94, of Ottawa, died 9:55 p.m. Tuesday, September 7, 2021 at the Meadows of Ottawa.  She was born on October 19, 1926 in Columbus Grove, OH to the late Ben A. Meyer and Hilda (Heitmeyer) Meyer. On September 10, 1947, at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Columbus Grove, OH, she married James J. Laubenthal, who preceded her death on January 20, 2017. 

  She graduated from Columbus Grove Schools and Tiffin University. Mil and Jim owned Made-Rite Concrete Products. She enjoyed playing golf, cards, her morning coffee group, and travel. She and Jim spent 29 winters in Arizona. Mil was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Parish, Catholic Ladies of Columbia, Alter Rosary Society, a Life Member of American Legion Auxiliary Post 63, VFW Auxiliary 9412, and a member of the Ohio LST 559 Association (Landing Ship Tank) serving as Secretary for LST 559 Reunions.

  Mil volunteered at Putnam Acres Care Center, the Putnam County Thrift Store, Putnam County March of Dimes Co-Chairman, Disabled Veterans in Mesa, AZ and the Soup Kitchen in Mesa, AZ.

  Survivors include three daughters: Jane Baxter of Columbus Grove, OH, Linda (Craig) Sakemiller of Lima, OH and Susan (Bert) Buza, Columbus, OH; three grandchildren: Jeff Baxter, Todd (Stephanie) Baxter and Katha (Stephen) Rabal; eight great-grandchildren: Anthony Baxter, Brett (Kylie) Baxter, Zachary Baxter, Benjamin Baxter, Dominic Buza, Makayla (Robert Owen) Kinser, Ashley Kinser and Jakob Kinser; and six great-great-grandchildren: Jackson, Thea and Atticus Baxter, Monique and Colette Buza and Slaton Owen; a sister: Nettie Stechschulte of Findlay, OH; two sisters-in-law: Dolores Meyer of Columbus Grove, OH and Shirley (Dave) Bryenton of New Knoxville, OH; and a brother-in-law: Larry Matson of Ottawa, OH.

  She was preceded in death by three brothers: Ray (Florence "Babe") Meyer, Gilbert Meyer, Victor Meyer; and three sisters: Helen (Cleo) Brinkman, Rita (Aloysuis) Knueven and Mitzie Matson; and a brother-in-law, Virgil Stechschulte.

  Funeral Mass will begin 12:00 p.m. Friday, September 10, 2021 at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church with Father Rick Friebel officiating. Burial will be at a later date. Visitation will be held at the church on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass.

  Arrangements are under the direction of LOVE FUNERAL HOME, Ottawa.

  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Sts. Peter and Paul Church, Ottawa, or Putnam County Homecare and Hospice.
