Oscar A. Schnipke
GLANDORF - Oscar A. Schnipke, 93, of Glandorf died 4:55 p.m. Saturday, July 10, 2021 at Mercy Health St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima. He was born February 5, 1928 in Cloverdale to the late Henry and Lillian (Miller) Schnipke. On September 9, 1978 he married Shirley Caskey, who survives in Glandorf.
He is survived by 2 brothers: Bob Schnipke of Ottawa Lake, MI and Karl (Pat) Schnipke of Toledo; 2 sisters: Margie Schroeder of Kalida and Laura Coressel of Glandorf; 3 sisters-in-law: Dolores Schnipke of Glandorf, Wilma Schnipke of Cloverdale and Pam Schnipke of Ottoville and many nieces and nephews.
Oscar is preceded in death by 4 brothers: Urban Schnipke, Othmer Schnipke, Ralph Schnipke and Virgil Schnipke; a sister: Helen Schroeder; 3 brothers-in-law: Don Schroeder, Dan Schroeder and Dick Coressel and 2 sisters-in-law: Pat Schnipke and Betty Schnipke.
Oscar was a carpenter and a lifelong farmer. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Glandorf where he was a Eucharistic distributor for many years and a member of its Holy Name Society. He was also a member of the Ottawa K of C where he volunteered for their many dinners and polka dances over the years. He was a social member of the Ottawa Eagles and enjoyed trips and car rides through the country and checking the crops.
The funeral mass will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, July 15, 2021 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Glandorf with Fr Tony Fortman, Fr Ken Schnipke and Fr Eugene Schnipke officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 2 to 8 p.m. at LOVE FUNERAL HOME, Ottawa where a scripture service will be at 1:45 p.m. and parish rosary service will be at 7:30 p.m.
