Patricia L. Hovest
GLANDORF – Patricia L. Hovest, 86, of Glandorf died peacefully at 3:40 p.m. Friday, May 5, 2023 at The Meadows of Ottawa. She was born September 28, 1936 in Glandorf to the late Raymond J. and Helen L. (Kern) Schroeder. On October 27, 1954, she married Gregory Hovest and he died August 14, 2015.
Survivors include five children: Stephen (Sandy) Hovest of Norwalk, Allen (Maryellen) Hovest of Lexington, KY, Brian (Rose) Hovest of Tallmadge, Eric (Susan) Hovest of Dublin and Sharon (Dean) Mayhew of Glandorf; son-in-law, John (Debbie) Schlumbohm of Pandora; 12 grandchildren; 2 step-grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; four siblings: Diane Warnecke of Kalida, Doris Eith of Woodbury, NJ, Dale (Ruth) Schroeder of Bowling Green, Gary (Jan) Schroeder of Kalida; and a sister-in-law, Jeannie Schroeder of Ottawa.
She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Susan Schlumbohm; and four siblings: Evelyn Palte, Tom Schroeder, Rita Maas and Louis Schroeder.
Pat retired as utility clerk for the Village of Glandorf. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Glandorf and its Altar Rosary Society and Catholic Ladies of Columbia. She was also a member of the Glandorf Fire Ladies and Marv Herzog Fan Club. Pat volunteered for the American Red Cross and was a Kindergarten aid. She enjoyed trips with the ladies of GLL, had a strong love of children, enjoyed working with numbers and touched the hearts of many with her kindness. Her greatest joy was family gatherings.
Funeral mass will begin 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 10, 2023 at St. John the Baptist Church, Glandorf with Fr. Matt Keller officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m., Tuesday at LOVE FUNERAL HOME, OTTAWA with a scripture service at 1:45 p.m. as well as one hour prior to mass Wednesday.
Memorials may be given to St. John the Baptist Catholic Church or Putnam County Homecare and Hospice.
