Patrick Cavanaugh
OTTAWA – Patrick Cavanaugh, 87, of Ottawa, passed away at 6:05 a.m. on Wednesday, July 27, 2022 at The Meadows of Leipsic. He was born on June 26, 1935 in Hamler to the late Phillip and Rose (Dibling) Cavanaugh. On June 16, 1956, he married Joan Bartosek, who preceded him in death on March 5, 1993.
Survivors include two children: Randy (Lisa) Cavanaugh of Hamler and Tom (Michelle) Cavanaugh of Gilbert, AZ; five step-grandchildren; and a sister, Madonna Alt of Phoenix, AZ; and a sister-in-law, Janet Cavanaugh of Custar.
He was also preceded in death by six siblings: Mike Cavanaugh, Theresa (Henry) Panning, Margaret (Paul) Sheets, Bob (Clara) Cavanaugh, Tony (Audrey) Cavanaugh and Veronica (Harold) Foose; and a brother-in-law, George Alt.
Patrick retired in 1991 from Philips, Ottawa. He was also a lifelong farmer and a veteran of the Army National Guard. He was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Ottawa and sang for the choir for almost 20 years. Patrick was also a member of the Quarter Century Club and the Ottawa VFW. He loved traveling to Canada to go fishing, being in the outdoors and was a huge Ottawa-Glandorf Titans fan.
Funeral Mass will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 2, 2022 at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Ottawa, with Father Scott Kramer officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. A visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Monday with a scripture service at 7:50 p.m. and one hour prior to mass on Tuesday at LOVE FUNERAL HOME, Ottawa.
