Paul David Stevens
LEIPSIC - Paul David Stevens, 81 of Leipsic passed away at 10:55 p.m., Tuesday, June 2, 2020 at his residence, surrounded by his loving family. He was born April 16, 1939 in Portsmouth to the late Dennis S. and Mary Ruby (Nourse) Stevens. On June 7, 1975 he married Phyllis Jordan and she survives.
Other survivors include three children: Ruby (Jerome) McGowan of Ottawa, Jeanette (Dennis) Verhoff of Ottawa and Lynn (Joseph) Smith of Continental; two foster children: Angel Parker and Clark Parker, both at home; nine grandchildren: Aaron Larson, Brianna Larson, Aislinn McGowan, Ian McGowan, Spencer Verhoff, Morgan Verhoff, Brooklyn Smith, Britten Smith and Jacob Smith; a brother, John Stevens of Wheelersburg; two sisters: Garnett Allen of Indianapolis, IN and Dorothy Tedder of Huntington Beach, CA; and several nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by a grandson, Anthony Tyler; four brothers: Ralph, Dennis, Richard and Walt; and five sisters: Ruby Keener, Ruth Bloomfield, Violet Cleek, Mary Stevens and Lillian Rose.
Paul retired from Louisiana Pacific in 1983 as a foreman. He enjoyed reading, fishing, target practice and woodworking. He was known as "Mr. Fix-It" or "Uncle Dave" and always tinkered in his workshop. Paul loved nature, the outdoors and his never ending curiosity of the unknown. Paul also had a lifelong love of learning, quick wit and wonderful sense of humor.
Funeral service will begin at 12:00 p.m., Friday, June 5, 2020 at Love-Heitmeyer Funeral Home, Leipsic with Pastor Wayne Baldridge officiating. Burial will follow in Center Cemetery, Leipsic. In keeping with the social distancing guidelines, visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home Friday.
