Pauline D. Bockrath
KALIDA-Pauline D. Bockrath, 95, of Kalida died at 10:43 p.m. Tuesday, January 5, 2021 at the Meadows of Kalida. She was born October 29, 1925 in Miller City to the late Edward and Bertha (Niese) Hohenbrink. On November 17, 1948 she married Wilfred J. Bockrath, who preceded her in death on November 8, 1993.
Survivors include her children: Jean (Richard) Tennill of Bellevue, OH and Donald (Lana) Bockrath of Ft. Wayne, IN; four grandchildren: Scott, Shaun and Bradley Bockrath, and Sarah (Joseph) Mason; three great-grandchildren: Talon Mason, Bryson and Leah Bockrath.
She was preceded in death by her brother: Norbert (Eileen) Hohenbrink; sisters: Marcella (Julius) Kuhlman and Helen (Ambrose) Kuhlman; and a special friend: Vernon Wolke.
For several decades Pauline enjoyed preparing delicious meals for hundreds of people at a time for weddings and other special celebrations throughout the local area. She was well known for her tasty noodles and barbeque sauce.
Pauline was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church in Kalida, as well as the Altar Rosary Society and a member of the choir. She volunteered at Putnam Acres Care Center, The Meadows of Kalida, The Meadows of Ottawa, and St. Michael’s Catholic Church. Pauline was a homemaker who loved gardening, working in the fields, tending to her flowers, playing cards and spending time with her family members.
A funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 9, 2021 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Kalida, with Father Mark Hoying officiating. The mass will be live-streamed on the church's Facebook page. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. In keeping with the social distancing guidelines, a visitation will be held Saturday 10:00 a.m. until the time of the mass at the church. Masks will be required upon entering the church. Due to COVID-19 health concerns, there will not be a gathering after the burial. Arrangements are under the direction of LOVE-HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Jackson Township.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Michael’s Catholic Church, the Alzheimer’s Association or a charity of the donor’s choice.
