Phyllis A. Wurst
OTTOVILLE – Phyllis A. Wurst, 88, of Ottoville, passed away at 6:43 p.m., Sunday, May 7, 2023 at Mercy Health St. Rita’s Medical Center, Lima. She was born July 20, 1934 in Cloverdale to the late Lawrence and Marcella (Rekart) Blankemeyer. On July 23, 1955, she married Leo A. Wurst, who preceded her in death on December 18, 2020.
She is survived by 3 children: Gary (Kathy Holden) Wurst, Michael Wurst and Sandra Friedrich, all of Ottoville; 5 grandchildren: Aaron (Lindsay) Wurst, Sara (Galen) Vasquez, Kayla (Michael) Leonard, Alex (Karrisa) Friedrich and Eric Friedrich; 8 great grandchildren: Emmeline Wurst, Eleanor Wurst, Leo Vasquez, Emanuel Vasquez, Bentley Wannemacher, Ayden Friedrich, Sophie Mayes, Xavier Friedrich; 2 sisters: Marilyn Hedrick of Brookville, IN and Janis (George) Rafferty of Celina; and in-laws: Brenda (Eversole) Wurst of Van Wert, Larry Wurst of West Carrollton and Rodney (Lois) Wurst of McCormick, SC.
She was also preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Roger Hedrick; and in-laws: Gloria Wurst, Rich Wurst, Delores Wurst, Art Wurst and Patricia Wurst.
Phyllis was a former owner with her husband of Millie’s in Ottoville. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Ottoville and the Ottoville VFW Auxiliary. Phyllis enjoyed her retirement years with her husband Leo at Indian Lake. She also loved riding around town on her golf cart and spending time with her grandpup, Toby.
Funeral Mass will begin 10:30 a.m., Friday, May 12, 2023 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Ottoville with the Very Reverend George Mahas officiating. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Ottoville. Visitation will be from 2 – 4 and 6 – 8 p.m. on Thursday, where a scripture service will be held at 1:45 p.m. at LOVE-HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Jackson Township.
