Richard L. Laubenthal
GLANDORF – Richard L. Laubenthal, 69, of Glandorf, passed away at 10:05 p.m. on Wednesday, April 27, 2022, at Mercy Health Putnam Medical Center, Glandorf. He was born August 8, 1952, in Lima to the late Lewis “Boz” and Mary Ann (Giesken) Laubenthal. On February 22, 1974, he married Marsha Williams, she survives in Glandorf.
Richard is also survived by three children: Kim (Steve) Mattingly of Bay Village, Craig (Jenny) Laubenthal of Mt. Pleasant, MI., and Jeff (Amanda) Laubenthal of Warrendale, PA.; six grandchildren: Evan, William, Lucy and Oscar Laubenthal, Sam and Charlie Mattingly; three brothers: Ned (Donna) Laubenthal, Al (Lynn) Laubenthal, and Bruce (Stacey) Laubenthal, all of Ottawa; two sisters: Becky Dershem, and Lisa “Red” (Rod) Seimet, both of Ottawa; a sister-in-law: Michelle Williams of Ottawa; and a brother-in-law: Bob (Doris) Williams of Ottawa; and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by two brothers-in-law: Don Dershem and Jack Williams; a sister-in-law: Sally Laubenthal; father-in-law and mother-in-law: Dewey and Rose Williams.
Richard worked as a computer programmer specialist for ODOT, where he retired after 36 years. He was also a Volunteer Fireman for Glandorf. Richard was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Glandorf, the Glandorf Rod and Gun, as well as the Glandorf Park Board where he served as president in 1993. He enjoyed golfing and was an avid fan of the OG Titans and Ohio State Buckeyes. Richard loved spending time at the family cottage on the Auglaize River, where he would take the grandkids for boat rides and watch them enjoy the water.
Funeral Mass will begin at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, May 2, 2022, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Glandorf with Father Tony Fortman officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. A visitation will be held on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. and on Monday from 9 to 10 a.m. A scripture service will begin at 1:45 p.m. and a service by the Glandorf Fire Department at 7:00 p.m. on Sunday at LOVE FUNERAL HOME, Ottawa.
