Richard "Dick" Meyer
OTTOVILLE -- Richard "Dick" Meyer, 73 of Ottoville died 1:07 p.m. Sunday, August 12, 2018 at his residence. He was born April 22, 1945 in Ottawa to the late Alfred and Frances (Niese) Meyer. On June 25, 1966 he married Sharon Siebeneck, who survives in Ottoville.
Also surviving are 6 children: Donna (Dan) Becker of Ottoville, Cindy (Rob) Niese of Leipsic, Jan Meyer of Ottoville, Greg (Kathy) Meyer of Hubbard, NE, Don Meyer of Cloverdale and Roger (Stacy) Meyer of West Chester; 10 grandchildren: Jessica (Dereck) Meyer, Janelle Becker, Dustin (Megan) Deming, Kyle Meyer, Austin Meyer, Miranda Niese, Matt Niese, Brittney Meyer, Morgan Niese and Isabelle Meyer; 1 great-grandson: Karson Meyer and Baby Deming who is on the way; 2 sisters: Marie (John) Hoorman and Alice (Dave) Maas, both of Ottawa; 6 brothers: Frank Meyer, Elmer (Sharon) Meyer, Jim Meyer, John (Joan) Meyer, Norm (Janet) Meyer and Bill (Kate) Meyer; 6 sisters-in-law: Carol Meyer, Pat Meyer, Theresa Gerding, Velma Warnimont, Janet Variell, and Jane (Ron) Pothast; and a brother-in-law: Norm Siebeneck.
Dick is preceded in death by 2 brothers: Robert Meyer and Tom Meyer; a granddaughter: Marissa Niese; 4 brothers-in-law: Robert Gerding, Charles Warnimont, Robert Siebeneck and Don Siebeneck; and 2 sisters-in-law: Rita Meyer and Valeta Siebeneck.
Dick retired after 40 years of service at Johns Manville, Defiance. He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Ottoville. He was a member of the Ottoville K of C and formerly the Kalida K of C. Dick enjoyed attending auctions, garage sales and loved to fish in his pond. Dick enjoyed wood working and spent many hours tinkering in his shop. He could also be found gardening to keep himself busy.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 15, 2018 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Ottoville with the Very Reverend Jerome Schetter and Father Charles Obinwa officiating. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Ottoville. Visitation will be Tuesday from 2 to 8 p.m. at the LOVE-HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Jackson Township where a scripture service will be held Tuesday at 1:45 p.m. and a K of C Rosary will be at 5:30 p.m.
