Rita Jane “Janie” Bockrath
GLANDORF - Rita Jane “Janie” Bockrath, 87, of Glandorf died peacefully surrounded by her loving family at 9:33 a.m., Monday, January 18, 2021 at the family farm. She was born October 20, 1933 in Ottawa to the late John T. and Frances (Schroeder) Ellerbrock. On May 6, 1954, she married Norbert Bockrath and he survives in Glandorf.
Other survivors include six children: Pamela (Barry) Steineman of Sylvania, Joann (Charles) Boyk of Bowling Green, Karen (Michael) Parker of Glandorf, Diane (Neil) Orians of Mishawaka, IN, Mark Bockrath of Glandorf and Dale Bockrath of Nelsonville; eleven grandchildren: Jonathan Steineman, Kathryn (Steve) Tummino, Emily Boyk, Sarah Boyk, Jacob Boyk, Joshua Boyk, Adam (Brittany) Parker, Allison (Ross) Hashbarger, Andrew Orians, Elena Orians and Olivia Orians; five great-grandchildren: Stefan, Lila and Ella Tummino, Ethan and Caroline Parker and Baby Hashbarger on the way; one brother Harold (Doris) Ellerbrock of Ottawa; and two sisters-in-law: Theresa Ellerbrock of Leipsic and Imogene Ellerbrock of Ottawa.
She was also preceded death by a son, Timothy Bockrath; four brothers: Jim (Alvina) Ellerbrock, Andrew Ellerbrock, Karl Ellerbrock and Bob (Lucille) Ellerbrock; and four sisters: Margaret (Clete) Kerner, Betty (Jim) Smith, Dolores (Len) Bockrath and Alberta (Tom) Ruhe.
Prior to marriage Janie worked at Buyer Group in Ottawa and then cleaned houses later on in life. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Glandorf and its Altar Rosary Society. She was a 1951 graduate of Sts. Peter and Paul High School. Janie enjoyed reading, taking care of her family and had a special devotion to Mary our Blessed Mother.
Funeral mass will begin at 12:00 p.m., Thursday, January 21, 2021 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Glandorf with Fr. Tony Fortman officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of funeral at the church Thursday. Masks are required. Arrangements are under the direction of LOVE FUNERAL HOME, Ottawa.
