  COLUMBUS GROVE - Rudolph "Rudy" J. Schroeder, 96, of Columbus Grove, died 11:02 p.m. Saturday, April 3, 2021 at the Meadows of Ottawa.  He was born February 10, 1926 in Columbus Grove to the late Clem and Frances (Giesken) Schroeder.  He married LaDonna Omler and she preceded him in death.

  Survivors include three children: Linda (Steve) Conn of Glandorf, Janet Schroeder of Bluffton and Susie Utrup of Glandorf; seven grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren;  a brother: Wilbur Schroeder of Columbus Grove; and a sister: Mary Louise Rogers of Waterville.

  Rudy was preceded in death by two sons: Robert and Rudy Jr. Schroeder;  a son-in-law: Jerry Utrup; two brothers: Frank and James Schroeder; and a sister: Julie Ann Schroeder.

  Rudy was a veteran of the U.S. Navy during World War II. He retired from General Dynamics. Rudy was a member of the Columbus Grove American Legion and St. Anthony Catholic Church, Columbus Grove.

  Funeral mass will be held 10:30 a.m. Thursday, April 8, 2021 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Glandorf with Father Tony Fortman officiating. Burial will follow at St. Anthony Cemetery, Columbus Grove. There will be no visitation.  Due to the regulations regarding COVID-19, masks will be required upon entering the church.

  Memorial donations may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
