Ruth Drerup
GLANDORF – Ruth Drerup, 95, of Glandorf, passed away at 8:20 a.m., Tuesday, November 15, 2022 at the Meadows of Ottawa. She was born May 20, 1927 in Glandorf to the late Fred and Philomena (Kleman) Recker. On June 3, 1947, she married Clayton Drerup, who died March 19, 2008.
Survivors include five children: Ken (Jeff Eiselman) Drerup of Lewis, DE, Mary Jo (Tom Stacy) Williams of Ottawa, Dale (Laurie) Drerup of Lambertville, MI, Lisa (David “Big Dawg”) Carlisle of Ottawa and Lynn (Craig) Vogel of Hamilton, IN; 15 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Larry Drerup and a daughter, Diane “Trots” Drerup; four brothers: Alvin (Sally) Recker, Walter (Delores) Recker, Elmer Recker and John Recker; and five sisters: Mary (Gale) Bennett, Margaret (Vic) Schmiedebusch, Eleanor (Howard) Zwyer, Wilma (Jim) Hohenbrink and LouAnn (Dan) Jenkins.
Ruth retired from the Glandorf Post Office, where she was Postmaster. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Glandorf and its Altar Rosary Society. She was a lifetime member of the Ottawa VFW Auxiliary, Ottawa Eagles Auxiliary and Catholic Ladies of Columbia. Ruth enjoyed playing cards and was in several card clubs. She loved to travel, especially to Seattle, Australia and Portugal, thanks to The Price is Right. Ruth also loved to bake and spend time with her family.

Funeral Mass will begin 10:30 a.m., Monday, November 21, 2022 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Glandorf with Fr. Matt Keller officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. on Sunday with a scripture service at 2:45 p.m. and a rosary service beginning at 7:30 p.m. at LOVE FUNERAL HOME, Ottawa.
