Santos Inocente Chavez, Sr.
GILBOA - Santos Inocente Chavez Sr., 81, of Gilboa passed away on April 2, 2021 at his home. He was born on December 28, 1939 in Burgos Tamaulipas, Mexico to the late Albino Barrera and Maria Elodia (Gutierrez) Chavez. He married the love of his life, San Juana Bellatriz, on March 24, 1962. She preceded him in death.
Santos is survived by his four children: Fidel (Kelly) Garcia Jr. of Mesa, Arizona, Irma Robledo Chavez of Gilbert, Arizona, Linda Robledo (Will) Mars of Findlay and Santos Inocente (Melanie) Chavez Jr. of Florence, Arizona; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; three sisters: Esperanza Castillo of Leipsic, Consuelo Ledezma and Maria de Jesus Chavez of La Feria, Texas.
Santos was also preceded in death by three brothers: Alberto, Pedro, and Ernesto Chavez; and three sisters: Gregoria Scogin, Leonor Chavez and Severiana Chavez.
Above all else, Santos was a loving and proud family man, and an adventurous soul who loved to learn. Santos retired from Nelson Manufacturing, where he was a welder for 39 years. He was proud to earn his US citizenship, and his GED. He learned to use a computer in recent years so that he could find his ancestors and make more family connections. For many years, he invested into the lives of local boy scouts as a leader with troops at Pandora-Gilboa and at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
Funeral services will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, April 19, 2021 at LOVE FUNERAL HOME, Ottawa with Deacon Ben Valdez and Bishop Craig Stapley officiating. Burial will follow at Harman Cemetery, Gilboa. Visitation will be held from 2-8 p.m. on Sunday and again on Monday one hour prior to the service. In keeping with social distancing guidelines, masks will be required upon entering the funeral home.
Memorial donations may be made to the Provision Project (https://provisionproject.org/), which provides financial relief to women in active treatment for breast cancer.
