Vera M. Franz
OTTAWA - Vera M. Franz, 92, of Ottawa, passed away at 10:43 a.m. on Tuesday, June 8, 2021 at her home surrounded by family. She was born March 15, 1929 in Dayton to the late Joseph and Leona (Schmackers) Schwarzman. On March 31, 1951 she married George Edward Franz before he left for the Korean War. He preceded her in death on November 18, 1995.
Vera is also survived by five children: Diana (Gary) Ordway of Continental, Marcia (Joseph) Kleman of Glandorf, Jeffrey (Tona) Franz of Ottawa, Victor (Diane) Franz of Ottawa and Tamy Franz of Ottawa; 10 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; two sisters: Mary Coletta Franks of Dayton and Marjorie Fisher of Continental; and two sisters-in-law: Harriet Schwarzman of Dayton and Carolyn (Arnie) Ricker of Continental.
She was also preceded in death by four brothers: Bernard, Donald, Clement and Victor Schwarzman; and her in-laws: George Franks, Veron Fisher, Mildred Knapp, Violet Franz, Edith & Harry Bowerman, Rachael & Larry Leiter, Wilamena "Edna" McNear and Samuel & Marilyn Franz.
Vera graduated from Vandalia Butler High School in 1947. She was a homemaker and also retired from Campbell Soup Company, Napoleon. She was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Ottawa, it's Altar Rosary, Catholic Ladies of Columbia, Minister of Praise, Precious Blood Companions and Tuesday Adoration. She was a member of the Pat Meyer Golden Steppers Dance Group, American Legion Auxiliary, Continental Post 541.
She was a big fan of her kids and grandkids when it came to sports, horse shows, band and choir concerts. She loved to travel, dance and spend time with family and friends.
Funeral mass will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 12, 2021 at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Ottawa with Father Scott Kramer officiating. Burial will follow at Monroe Township Cemetery, Continental. Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday at LOVE FUNERAL HOME, Ottawa and again on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Ottawa, prior to the funeral mass.
