Virginia A. Lanwehr
OTTAWA – Virginia A. Lanwehr, 88, of Ottawa, died at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 16, 2021 at the Meadows of Ottawa. She was born January 26, 1933, in Lima to the late Cyril and Lucille (Ellerbrock) Kuhlman. On August 6, 1952 she married Donald "Duke" Lanwehr. He preceded her in death on March 4, 1999.
Survivors include three children: Brent (Julie) Lanwehr, Pat Maag of Glandorf, Dean (Teresa) Lanwehr, both of Ottawa; eight grandchildren; Anitra (Kevin) Utrup, Scott (Lindsey) Lanwehr, Craig Lanwehr, Megan Lanwehr, Kory (Jenna) Maag, Jenna (Matt) Martin, Nate (Laurie) Lanwehr, Dana (Tyler) Brownell; nine great-grandchildren: Brandt and Bralyn Utrup, Taylor and Finley Lanwehr, Zoey and Bryson Maag, Mia Martin, Grace and Kate Lanwehr; two brothers: Joseph (Helen) Kuhlman, Bill (Jane) Kuhlman, both of New Cleveland; three sisters: Betty (Jim) Richardson of Ottawa, Angie (Bob) Ricker of Delphos, and Deb (Denny) Lammers of Glandorf; two sisters-in-law: Mary Lou Rieman of Glandorf, Nancy Kuhlman of Fort Jennings.
She was also preceded in death by a grandchild: Kyle Maag; a great-grandchild: Nellie Lanwehr; son-in-law: Charlie Maag; two brothers: Leroy Kuhlman, Earl Kuhlman; and two sisters: Norma (Ray) Meyer and Janet (John) Repko.
Virginia was a waitress at Oak Restaurant and Schnipke Inn. She was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Ottawa, its Altar Rosary Society, Catholic Ladies of Columbia, Ottawa Eagles, and former member of the Lima Elks. She enjoyed crocheting afghans and camping; loved to cook and bake; and loved to spend time with her grandkids and attend their events.
The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at the Meadows of Ottawa for their exceptional care of Ginny.
Funeral mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, March 19, 2021 at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Ottawa with Father Scott Kramer officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. In keeping with the social distancing guidelines, a visitation will be held on Thursday from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. as well as one hour prior to the mass on Friday at LOVE FUNERAL HOME, Ottawa. A scripture service will be held at 7:50 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home. Masks will be required upon entering the funeral home and church.
