William F. "Bill" Schroeder
OTTAWA - William F. "Bill" Schroeder, 70, of Ottawa, died at 7:40 p.m. Wednesday, July 7, 2021 at the Meadows of Ottawa. He was born February 9, 1951 in Lima to the late Ernest and Lucille (Laubenthal) Schroeder. On October 13, 1973, he married Nancy Verhoff and she survives in Ottawa.
Other survivors include two sons: Justin (Michelle) Schroeder of Ottawa and Gavin (Nikki) Schroeder of Glandorf; four grandchildren: William, Taylor, Josie and Raegan Schroeder; brothers and sister: David Schroeder of Ottawa, Les (Ginny) Schroeder of Miller City, Nancy Walther of Leipsic and Randy (Miriam) Schroeder of New Cleveland.
He was also preceded in death by a brother, Howard Schroeder and a sister-in-law, Marlene Schroeder.
Bill worked for Phillips in Ottawa for 30 plus years, at Hovest Construction for 10 years and had worked for Pro-Tec in Leipsic. He was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Ottawa, Knights of Columbus, Ottawa, and 4 Deuces Car Club. Bill was a car enthusiast and loved Chevy's. He was an avid fan of the Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bears and enjoyed traveling. He was a member of the Mustache Club. He loved Stroh's and Dr. Pepper, not Pepsi. Bill was close friends with Bob Seger and always enjoyed a good joke. He never met a stranger and his goal was to talk to a million people. Bill loved his family, especially his sons and grandchildren.
Funeral mass will be 1:00 p.m. Monday, July 12, 2021 at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Ottawa with Father Rick Friebel officiating. Burial will be at a later date in the church cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of mass at LOVE FUNERAL HOME, Ottawa. We would like to send dad off in style by including your street rod in the funeral procession.
