Carol Etue

  LEIPSIC – Carol Etue, 89, of Leipsic (formerly of Toledo), died 9:55 p.m., Tuesday, June 14, 2016 at The Meadows of Leipsic.  She was born March 18, 1927 in Cloverdale to the late Sylvester and Mary (Hitzelberger) Schwaiger.  In January of 1974, she married Dallas Etue and they resided in Toledo for most of their life.  He died April 26, 2010. 

  Survivors include a sister: Clara Breakey of GA and several very special nieces and nephews.

  She was also preceded in death by two brothers: Sylvester Schwaiger, Jr. and Albert Schwaiger; two sisters: Agnes Eickholt and Rita Schwaiger; and two special dogs: Ginger and Bandit.

  Carol worked in several different fields such as retail, real estate and food service.  After retiring from full time employment in 1982, she volunteered for the Toledo Humane Society Pet Therapy.  She enjoyed gardening and yard work; digging in the earth with her hands was like therapy to her.  She was a thoughtful and caring person with a deep compassion for all animals.  She had been a member of both St. Clement Church in Toledo and St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Leipsic.

  A Mass of Christian Burial will begin 10:30 a.m., Friday, June 17, 2016 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Leipsic with Fr. William Pifher officiating.  Burial will follow at 1:30 p.m. at Calvary Cemetery, 2224 Dorr Street, Toledo, Ohio 43607.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the mass in the church.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Toledo Humane Society, any local animal rescue shelter or to the charity of the donor’s choice.  Arrangements are under the direction of Love-Heitmeyer Funeral Home, Leipsic.
