From all of the Nub and Lish Heitmeyer family, we want to express our condolences to the Smith family. Diane and Kenny were dear cousins of ours and always had a smile for us. We will miss them. Sorry we missed the services as Judy and I were travelling out west and just heard the sad news. I think Janet and Keith were also travelling. God Bless you all.

May all who love Diane be comforted and given peace at this time of saying Good-bye. I was Diane's sister for a number of years when she lived at the Brenneman Home in Elida. I have fond memories of her coming to my home and she also enjoyed it when we went shopping. I remember that she loved to hear what my children, Tim and Tina, were doing and they bonded with her over the years. She sometimes would attend Pike Mennonite Church where I attended and we would sit together. I moved to PA 7 years ago to live close to my children and was just asking a friend from Elida about Diane yesterday and then learned today that she is now in heaven. I envision her gazing at Jesus with great wonder and awe and also envision her helping the angels with some project....since she always enjoyed helping out somewhere. May the Good Shepherd tenderly carry her soul. With Sympathy, Ginny Hartman (chaplain, nurse and a woman who was privileged to become a sister to Diane M. Smith)

I knew Diane as a special best friend for many years. Enjoyed dating her for awhile. We talked almost every night when she was still home. Tried hard to get in touch with family through my caseworker, but did not have any success. Will miss her very much and the times we used to share. Thanks for sharing her with me. I am privileged to have known her. John Gragg

To Diane's family,
Please accept my condolences.
Just a little tidbit about her---- A few years ago, if Diane saw me somewhere, she'd always get excited, & would come talk to me. She'd laugh and say , "We have the same name, Diane." She was a sweet girl.
