Esther C. Vennekotter
MILLER CITY – Esther C. Vennekotter, 89, of Miller City died at 7:00 a.m. Thursday, December 20, 2012 at The Meadows of Leipsic. She was born August 13, 1923 in Glandorf to the late Leo and Margaret (Feltman) Maag. On May 2, 1946 she married Oscar John Vennekotter who died July 14, 2012.
She is survived by 8 children: Thomas (Karen) Vennekotter of Elida, Janet Vennekotter of Perrysburg, Ronald (Jeanella) Vennekotter of Riverside, CA, Elaine (Mack) Schroeder of Columbus Grove, Roger (Nancy) Vennekotter of Miller City, Wayne (JoAnn) Vennekotter of Miller City, Carl (Diane) Vennekotter of Miller City, and Wilma (Kevin) Recker of Glandorf; a daughter-in-law: Ginny Vennekotter of Miller City; 23 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; 2 brothers: Alphonse (Mary Margaret) Maag and Valens (Ruth) Maag both of Ottawa; and 3 sisters: Jeanette Heckman of Glandorf, Alvera Laubenthal of Ottawa, and Anna Mae Thomas of New Bavaria.
She was also preceded in death by a son: Larry Vennekotter; 3 brothers: Leonard, Donald, and Alvin Maag; and 3 brothers-in-law: Dick Heckman, Walter Laubenthal, and John Thomas.
Esther was a homemaker and a member of St. Nicholas Catholic Church, Miller City and its Rosary Altar and Catholic Ladies of Columbia Societies. She excelled in quilting and enjoyed gardening. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, December 24, 2012 at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, Miller City with Fr. Stephen Schroeder officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. on Sunday at LOVE FUNERAL HOME, Ottawa where there will be a scripture service at 2:00 p.m. Memorials may be made to St. Nicholas Catholic Church or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
