Leipsic -- Margaret E. Butler, 91 of Leipsic died 2:05 a.m. Sunday, March 26, 2017 at the Meadows of Leipsic. She was born April 1, 1925 in Leipsic to the late Lucas and Amelia (Siebeneck) Stoepfel. On March 24, 1943 she married Elton Butler, who preceded her in death on November 28, 1998.
She is survived by her children: Steven (Debra) Butler, Thomas (Ofelia) Butler, Patricia (Rev. Thomas) McDonald and Sandy (Roger) Mansfield, all of Leipsic and Joseph (Debra) Butler of Napoleon; a daughter-in-law: Connie Butler of Ottawa; 18 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
Margaret is preceded in death by a son: Leon Butler; a great-grandchild: Addison Kuhlman; a great-great-grandchild: Faith Rieman; and 7 brothers: Cletus Stoepfel, Victor Stoepfel, Felix Stoepfel, Raymond Stoepfel, Thomas Stoepfel, Lawrence Stoepfel and Richard Stoepfel; and 3 sisters: Rita Knoll, Betty Weichart and Lauretta Stoepfel.
She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Leipsic and its Altar Rosary Society. She was a member of the C. L. of C. She always had a rosary in her hands and you were always in her prayers. She was a woman of great faith and she loved her family more than life.
Margaret was a homemaker and volunteered her time in area nursing homes. During WWII, Margaret worked for the Lima Army Tank Plant and had formerly worked for the Willow Run Bomber Plant, Ypsilanti, MI.
Margaret loved playing cards, baking bread, and making noodles and jerky. She enjoyed cooking for family get-togethers.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 29, 2017 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Leipsic. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 2 to 8 p.m. at LOVE-HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Leipsic and again on Wednesday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church. There will be an Altar Rosary Society service 7:30 p.m. Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Putnam County Hospice or the charity of the donor's choice.
