Dear Austin Family:
Dr. Austin was such a wonderful help to our son. It was Dr. Austin's sense of humor that helped our son go back to a second appointment. He worked with him for several years. It is a situation where Dr. Austin helped our son stand on his own two feet, something that many mental health facilitators aren't willing to work through with a client. We owe him big kudos! and even though obviously never had or took the opportunity to tell him this in person, we would like his family to know how very much we appreciated his helpful counseling to our son. He must have been seriously needed in heaven to leave so suddenly! I truly believe that he is still going on, helping people, and relishing the challenges and joys of doing so, in the next world. Again, we thank you, his family, for the part of his life we shared in. Words cannot adequately express our feelings. We pray for the Holy Spirit to comfort you in your grief at his passing.

Dearest Christina and all. I was and am so profoundly sad at the loss of this very special man. I regret that I didn't take the time to visit since Bill's passing. As always, thoughts that there is time doesn't pain out. If in fact that there is life after death I know that he and my Bill are lifting a cold brew and happy to reconnect again.

Love, Toni

Dear Austin Family,
I was so sorry not to be able to attend Sean's memorial last night; I feel that I owe him at least that honor for his years of service and compassion toward my family. Dr. Austin helped me through a period in my life when I was frustrated and lost, and I deeply appreciated his presence and advice. I still think of him often and wish that I had taken the initiative to contact him and express my gratitude directly. I was especially thankful that, even though we had not spoken in years, I was able to contact him when I needed a referral for a young friend in need of help and he intervened without question. He was a wonderful man and a kind spirit. He will be deeply missed and I will keep your family in my prayers.

I was so looking forward to seeing him again, he has helped my entire family. I will unabashedly sing his praises to my future students.

Sean was my dearest friend. I deeply valued his friendship. I treasure the memories of our many motorcycle and Miata rides on our way to or back from lunch. Sean would wave at everyone and everyone would wave back. Who could resist waving at Santa in a side car or a Miata?

He would always ask where I wanted to eat and I would always reply, wherever you want to go. For me having a Charlie Brown peanut butter sandwich in the rain with Sean would be far better then a steak with most anyone else.

I remember one lunch in the Red Pig Inn when a young girl around 4 or 5 could not take her eyes off Sean. She was convinced he was Santa and "Santa" did not disappoint her. Much to her delight he paid her a table side visit. HO! HO! HO!

He was a true friend, a wonderful person and a joy to be around. I shall miss him and I trust the warm memories of our times together will be of some comfort and for all who read this may your memories of Sean bring you comfort as well.

Comfort and Strength to you all,

-vern

As I am unable to be with you this evening for the 6pm service, I am taking my only other best friend (my bride of 45 years) to a local Thai restaurant for Pan Thai.

Christina, greetings and heartfelt sympathy from your Canadian home Southampton.
I was shocked and saddened when I heard your news of Sean's passing. Take comfort in knowing it was not a long drawn out illness and that he had his family by his side. Thinking of them, and you at this difficult time. Hugs from your friend and Neighbour.

Dr. Austin will be missed this weekend when the community park is lit for Christmas. He was the VERY best Santa! My grandson saw him coming out of the post office one day in his shorts, socks, and hirachi sandals and couldn't believe Santa was here in the summer! It has been and will be a good memory that we will continue to share. Our prayers are with your family, and thank you for sharing your husband, father, with the Columbus Grove community.

We are so very sad....for many things,.. but right now, just for the loss of Sean. There is much to be said but that will be in person. What wonderful times we had back in the day! Clearly he meant so much to so many outside your family circle. Our greatest love and caring thoughts to you at such a very difficult time. Blessings to you as you move forward.

We were blessed to you have had your family as our neighbors for over 10 years. We are so sad for your loss. Sean was such a special and unique person, a true pioneer of the community. He has without a doubt made an impact on many many lives.

We will always remember his sandals with socks, his grilling on the deck, his classical music playing throughout the house, his ballgame hot dogs, and his distinct “Go Dawgs”.

He will be missed and we are deeply sorry for your loss.

To family of Sean Austin:
Sean and I shared many similar viewpoints. I became more closely acquainted with him while he was Findlay working the Hancock Mental Health Clinic. We would share time at meetings and socially, as we solved many of the society's problems - with a pint or two. He offered understanding with my clients and their behavior. He always had time to share with me. He also helped a family member personally. I respect and miss him.

Christina and family:

There are no words to express the hole left by Sean's death. I was fortunate enough to have just visited with him Wednesday morning. As always, I left my appointment with a smile on my face and a chuckle in my heart. A remarkable man with a remarkable family. He died with his boots on - or better yet, his Birks on. You are in my thoughts.

Christina and family,
I didn't get to know you all as well as I would have liked to. You all seemed to have been wonderful people. I truly respected Dr. Austin and wished I could have known him better. His passing saddens me terribly. I cannot attend the visitation or services as I am working my stagehand job that day, but my thoughts will be with you. The world was a far better place with Dr. Austin in it. I will miss his calls to our office. He always brightened my day.
